5 Dollar Tree Cleaning Hacks

Easy Cleaning Hacks That Will Change the Way You Clean

Looking for cheap and easy ways to clean the house? Cleaning doesn’t have to be hard. And it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, these incredibly clever Dollar Tree cleaning hacks will change the way you clean your home.

1. Dust the lamp shades with lint rollers.

I don’t know about you, but I really never thought about cleaning the lampshades in my house. Having allergies, I’m always concentrating on making sure my house is dust-free. But for some reason, the lampshades never crossed my mind.

Once I realized that dust falls on them too, I Immediately added them to my to-do list. This is one of those cleaning hacks that’s is so easy you can’t help but do it. Grab a few lint rollers from Dollar Tree (sometimes you can get them in packs of three) and use them to remove the dust from you lampshades.

2. Make your own dryer sheets.

Dryer sheets are one of those things that can either be a waste of money or a way to spend too much money. They’re almost like paper towels in a sense that if you can find a better way, then you should. This is one of my favorite DIY projects to share with people.

With a few things from Dollar Tree, you can make your own dryer sheets and save a ton of money. For this cleaning hack, you’ll need to grab a pack of scrub buddies sponges, an index card box, and some fabric softener. It should cost you a total of $3.

Taking your two pack of sponges, cut them in half so you have four pieces. Place the pieces inside your index card box and fill just less than halfway with water. Then add half a cup of your fabric softener and you’re good to go. When it’s time to dry a load of clothes just squeeze out one of your sponges and pop it in the dryer.

3. Use a pillowcase to clean the ceiling fan.

How many times have you used a duster to clean your ceiling fan only to watch the dust fly around the room as you’re cleaning it? Don’t worry it's happened to me too. Then I found out about this trick using pillowcases from Dollar Tree and it completely changed the way I dust my ceiling fan now.

This might be one of the best cleaning hacks out there. Take your pillowcase and spray the inside of it with a dusting spray. Now standing on a step stool, and use your pillowcase to wipe the tops of the arms on the ceiling fan dragging the dust inside the pillowcase as you're wiping.

Genius, isn’t it? Now there’s no dust floating around the room for you to find later and you can easily toss the pillowcase in the laundry when you’re finished.

Pro Tip: Since pillowcases from the dollar store aren’t made of good quality, put them inside a mesh laundry bag before washing them. This way they won’t tear easily and they’ll last longer for cleaning.

4. Clean your shower using a broom.

If you’re anything like me and you have back problems, then cleaning the bathtub and shower might be challenging for you. And trust me, you'll thank me later for this one.

Personally, having a clean bathtub and shower is important to me. I just can’t get into a dirty shower. So when I found this cleaning hack, I knew there was something to be said about it.

Add some hot water to your bathtub and a few drops of soap. Then taking a broom (I now consider this my cleaning broom), which you can get from Dollar Tree for $1, use it to scrub the walls of your shower and tub.

5. Whiten your grout with toilet cleaner.

Have you noticed that your grout isn’t as white as it used to be? It’s just another sign that your house is becoming a home. Don’t worry, you can have it looking like new in no time. Dollar Tree carries Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, which is perfect for cleaning grout.

Whether it be the grout on the floor or the grout in the bathroom, it’s the perfect tool for the job. Not only is it a great cleaning agent, the twist top nozzle that dispenses the cleaner makes it easy to run along the lines of the grout so there’s no mess to clean up afterward.
